Will Jesus accept me if I repent?

✨ Banner Refrain

📒 Alma 19
36 And thus the work of the Lord did commence among the Lamanites; thus the Lord did begin to pour out his Spirit upon them; and we see that his arm is extended to all people who will repent and believe on his name.

📒 3 Nephi 18
📜 25 And ye see that I have commanded that none of you should go away, but rather have commanded that ye should come unto me, that ye might feel and see; even so shall ye do unto the world; and whosoever breaketh this commandment suffereth himself to be led into temptation.

📗 Isaiah 59
📜 16 ¶ And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.

📒 2 Nephi 1
📜 15 But behold, the Lord hath redeemed my soul from hell; I have beheld his glory, and I am encircled about eternally in the arms of his love.

📒 Jacob 6
📜 5 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, I beseech of you in words of soberness that ye would repent, and come with full purpose of heart, and cleave unto God as he cleaveth unto you. And while his arm of mercy is extended towards you in the light of the day, harden not your hearts.

📒 3 Nephi 9
📜 14 Yea, verily I say unto you, if ye will come unto me ye shall have eternal life. Behold, mine arm of mercy is extended towards you, and whosoever will come, him will I receive; and blessed are those who come unto me.
1. The Invitation to All
- Alma 5:33 – The arms of mercy are extended to all men. Repentance is the condition, but the invitation is universal.
- Alma 19:36 – The Spirit poured out upon the Lamanites shows that God’s mercy is not tribal or exclusive. His arm reaches across boundaries.
- 3 Nephi 18:25 – Christ commands that none should be turned away. The invitation is not only to receive Him personally but to extend that same openness to the world.

Theme: God’s mercy is radically inclusive. No one is outside the reach of His invitation.
2. The Arms of Mercy
- Isaiah 59:16 – When no human intercessor could be found, God’s own arm brought salvation. This emphasizes divine initiative—He acts when humanity cannot.
- 2 Nephi 1:15 – The arms are not only extended but encircling. This is intimacy, protection, and eternal embrace.
- Jacob 6:5 – The arm of mercy is extended “in the light of the day.” There is urgency: respond while the invitation is open.
- 3 Nephi 9:14 – Christ promises eternal life to those who come. His arm of mercy is extended, and reception is guaranteed for the willing.

Theme: The “arm” is both strength and tenderness—salvation accomplished by divine power, yet experienced as love and embrace.
3. Interplay of “All” and “Arms”
- All emphasizes scope: no exclusion, no partiality.
- Arms emphasizes posture: God is not distant but reaching, encircling, sustaining.

Together, they form a paradox of majesty and intimacy: the infinite God extends His infinite reach, yet His embrace is personal and tender.
4. Practical Implications
- Repentance as response: Every passage ties mercy to repentance. The arms are extended, but the embrace is entered by turning toward Him.
- Communal witness: Just as Christ commands His disciples not to send anyone away, believers are called to mirror that openness.
- Urgency and hope: The arm is extended “in the light of the day”—there is a window of grace, but also a call not to delay.
5. Poetic Closure
The study paints a living image:
- Arms stretched wide across nations, tribes, and times.
- Arms strong enough to save when no one else could.
- Arms tender enough to encircle eternally in love.
- Arms of mercy that never tire, never retract, but wait for the repentant heart.
This isn’t just doctrine—it’s a motif of divine posture. God is always reaching, always inviting, always ready to embrace. The question becomes: will we step into those arms while they are extended in the light of day?
