Why should I share my testimony with others?

✨ Unified Motif: Success • Knowledge • Confess

Success
- Success is not counted in numbers but in souls awakened.
- Alma and his brethren rejoiced not in their own triumphs alone, but in the shared joy of God’s work fulfilled.

Knowledge
- Knowledge is not mere information but the living truth of Christ.
- It is proclaimed from Zion, carried by angels, borne by covenant seed, and entrusted to the weak and simple who magnify their office.

Confess
- Confession is the heart’s response to truth.
- It restores fellowship, renews covenant, and proclaims Christ as Lord.
Together they form the rhythm of testimony:
- We labor → souls awaken → hearts confess → joy is multiplied.

📜 Closing Thought
Your testimony is not just your story—it is God’s instrument. When you share it, you plant seeds of success, awaken knowledge of truth, and open the way for confession and healing. In this, you join the sons of Mosiah, Alma, and the prophets in bearing witness that Christ lives, and His word transforms.

📒 Alma 17
📜 4 And they had been teaching the word of God for the space of fourteen years among the Lamanites, having had much success in bringing many to the knowledge of the truth; yea, by the power of their words many were brought before the altar of God, to call on his name and confess their sins before him.

Sharing your testimony matters because it brings success in God’s work, increases knowledge of truth, and invites others to confess and turn to Christ. Alma 17:4 shows that testimony is not just personal—it is transformative for communities.
🔑 Dissection of Alma 17:4 with Focus Words

1. Success
- “Having had much success in bringing many to the knowledge of the truth…”
- Success here is not measured in numbers, wealth, or recognition, but in souls brought nearer to God. The sons of Mosiah labored for fourteen years, and their “success” was the fruit of patience, sacrifice, and love.
- Supporting verse: Doctrine & Covenants 18:15–16 — “If it so be that you should labor all your days… and bring, save it be one soul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father!”
- Application: Sharing your testimony is a seed of success in God’s eyes, even if it touches just one heart. Let us take a look in the book of Alma, for some guidance.

📒 Alma 29
📜 14 But I do not joy in my own success alone, but my joy is more full because of the success of my brethren, who have been up to the land of Nephi.

Summary: Success in God’s work is not about personal achievement or recognition, but about souls brought to Christ. Alma 29:14 teaches that true joy comes not only from our own success but from rejoicing in the success of others who labor faithfully. Sharing testimony is therefore both personal and communal—it builds joy when we see others prosper in the Lord.

📖 Success in Alma 17:4 and Alma 29:14
- Alma 17:4 shows the sons of Mosiah laboring for fourteen years, measuring success by the number of souls who came to know the truth. Their success was born of patience, sacrifice, and love, not worldly gain.
- Alma 29:14 expands the definition of success: Alma’s joy is “more full” because of the success of his brethren. This reveals that success in God’s kingdom is shared joy, not solitary triumph.

🔑 Key Insights
- Success is communal: Alma rejoices in the victories of others, showing that testimony is not about competition but about collective growth in Christ.
- Success is spiritual, not material: The sons of Mosiah endured hardship, yet their success was measured in conversion and covenant, not wealth or fame.
- Success brings joy: Alma’s joy is magnified when others succeed, teaching us that testimony strengthens bonds of fellowship and unity.

🌿 Application
- When you share your testimony, you plant seeds of success that may blossom in ways you cannot see. Even if one soul is touched, heaven counts it as great joy (D&C 18:15–16).
- Rejoice not only in your own witness but in the testimonies of others. Their success is your success, because the body of Christ is one.
- True success is measured in souls brought nearer to God, and joy is multiplied when we celebrate the faith of our brethren.

✨ In short: Success in testimony is not about numbers or recognition—it is about souls awakened to truth, joy shared among brethren, and the eternal fruit of patience and love. Alma reminds us that our joy is fullest when we rejoice together in God’s work.
2. Knowledge
- “…bringing many to the knowledge of the truth…”
- Knowledge here is not mere information but spiritual awakening—a recognition of Christ’s reality and the plan of salvation.
- Supporting verse: John 8:32 — “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
- Application: Your testimony is a witness that truth is not abstract—it is embodied in lived faith. By sharing, you help others discern truth from error and experience freedom in Christ. Let’s apply some scriptures, that share in the service of Missionary Work.

📗 Isaiah 2
📜 3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

📕 Revelation 14
📜 6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

📒 Jacob 1
📜 19 And we did magnify our office unto the Lord, taking upon us the responsibility, answering the sins of the people upon our own heads if we did not teach them the word of God with all diligence; wherefore, by laboring with our might their blood might not come upon our garments; otherwise their blood would come upon our garments, and we would not be found spotless at the last day.

📘 Doctrine and Covenants 1
📜 5 And they shall go forth and none shall stay them, for I the Lord have commanded them.
📜 23 That the fulness of my gospel might be proclaimed by the weak and the simple unto the ends of the world, and before kings and rulers.

📚 Abraham 2
📜 9 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee above measure, and make thy name great among all nations, and thou shalt be a blessing unto thy seed after thee, that in their hands they shall bear this ministry and Priesthood unto all nations;

Summary: Knowledge in Alma 17:4 is more than learning—it is a spiritual awakening that comes through testimony and missionary work. The scriptures show that true knowledge of God leads to freedom (John 8:32), responsibility (Jacob 1:19), and a global charge to proclaim the gospel (Isaiah 2:3; Revelation 14:6; D&C 1:5, 23; Abraham 2:9). Sharing testimony is therefore both personal and universal: it awakens hearts, teaches God’s ways, and fulfills covenant responsibility to spread truth across nations.

📖 Knowledge in Alma 17:4
- “…bringing many to the knowledge of the truth…”
- This knowledge is transformative, not intellectual alone. It is the recognition of Christ’s reality and the plan of salvation.
- It is freedom-giving (John 8:32) and responsibility-bearing (Jacob 1:19).

🔑 Supporting Scriptures on Missionary Knowledge
- Isaiah 2:3 — Many nations will seek the Lord’s teaching, showing that true knowledge draws people together in unity and discipleship.
- Revelation 14:6 — The everlasting gospel is preached to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people, emphasizing that knowledge of truth is meant for all humanity.
- Jacob 1:19 — Teachers bear responsibility to share knowledge diligently, lest they be accountable for withholding truth.
- Doctrine & Covenants 1:5, 23 — The Lord commands His servants to go forth, proclaiming the fullness of the gospel even through the weak and simple, proving that knowledge is empowered by divine commission rather than human strength.
- Abraham 2:9 — The covenant promises that Abraham’s seed will bear the ministry and priesthood to all nations, making knowledge of God’s truth a generational and global stewardship.

🌿 Application
- Knowledge is awakening: Sharing testimony helps others see beyond worldly wisdom into divine truth.
- Knowledge is communal: It unites nations and peoples under God’s law and gospel.
- Knowledge is responsibility: To know truth is to be accountable for teaching it, as Jacob warns.
- Knowledge is covenantal: Abraham’s covenant shows that spreading truth is part of our sacred inheritance.
- Knowledge is liberating: As Christ taught, truth makes us free—free from sin, fear, and ignorance.

✨ In short: Knowledge in testimony is not abstract—it is lived, proclaimed, and shared. It awakens hearts, unites nations, and fulfills covenant responsibility. Missionary work is the natural outflow of this knowledge, ensuring that the truth of Christ reaches every soul.
3. Confess
- “…to call on his name and confess their sins before him.”
- Confession is the natural outflow of testimony received. When truth pierces the heart, it leads to humility, repentance, and covenant renewal.
- Supporting verse: Romans 10:9–10 — “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart… thou shalt be saved.”
- Application: Sharing your testimony creates sacred space where others feel safe to confess, repent, and embrace God’s mercy. Let’s walk through these scripture verses, for more knowledge and clarity in confession.

📗 Numbers 5
📜 6 Speak unto the children of Israel, When a man or woman shall commit any sin that men commit, to do a trespass against the Lord, and that person be guilty;
🗝📜 7 Then they shall confess their sin which they have done: and he shall recompense his trespass with the principal thereof, and add unto it the fifth part thereof, and give it unto him against whom he hath trespassed.
📜 8 But if the man have no kinsman to recompense the trespass unto, let the trespass be recompensed unto the Lord, even to the priest; beside the ram of the atonement, whereby an atonement shall be made for him.
📜 9 And every offering of all the holy things of the children of Israel, which they bring unto the priest, shall be his.
📜 10 And every man’s hallowed things shall be his: whatsoever any man giveth the priest, it shall be his.

📒 Mosiah 26
🗝📜 29 Therefore I say unto you, Go; and whosoever transgresseth against me, him shall ye judge according to the sins which he has committed; and if he confess his sins before thee and me, and repenteth in the sincerity of his heart, him shall ye forgive, and I will forgive him also.
📜 35 And whosoever repented of their sins and did confess them, them he did number among the people of the church;

📒 3 Nephi 1
📜 25 But it came to pass that they soon became converted, and were convinced of the error which they were in, for it was made known unto them that the law was not yet fulfilled, and that it must be fulfilled in every whit; yea, the word came unto them that it must be fulfilled; yea, that one jot or tittle should not pass away till it should all be fulfilled; therefore in this same year were they brought to a knowledge of their error and did confess their faults.

Summary: Confession is the fruit of testimony—it is the moment when truth pierces the heart and compels humility, repentance, and covenant renewal. The scriptures show that confession is both verbal acknowledgment of sin and an act of restoration, forgiveness, and conversion. Sharing testimony creates the sacred space where confession becomes possible, leading souls to freedom in Christ.

📖 Confession in Alma 17:4
- “…to call on his name and confess their sins before him.”
- Confession is not simply admitting fault—it is turning toward God in humility. It is the natural response when testimony awakens the soul to truth.

🔑 Supporting Scriptures

Numbers 5:6–10
- Confession is tied to restitution and atonement. When someone wronged another, they were commanded to confess, repay, and add a fifth part as a sign of sincerity.
- This shows that confession is not only words but action—restoring relationships and acknowledging guilt before God.

Mosiah 26:29, 35
- Alma is instructed that if a sinner confesses sincerely and repents, they are to be forgiven by both the church and God.
- Confession here is communal and covenantal—it restores fellowship and numbers the repentant among God’s people.

3 Nephi 1:25
- When the people realized their error, they confessed their faults and were converted.
- Confession is thus the gateway to conversion, a recognition of error that leads to transformation and discipleship.

Romans 10:9–10
- Confession of Christ with the mouth and belief in the heart leads to salvation.
- This emphasizes that confession is not only about sins but about declaring allegiance to Christ.

🌿 Application
- Confession restores relationships: Numbers 5 shows that true confession involves restitution, healing both vertical (with God) and horizontal (with others) bonds.
- Confession renews covenant: Mosiah 26 teaches that confession brings forgiveness and restores membership in God’s people.
- Confession transforms hearts: 3 Nephi 1 reveals that confession is tied to conversion, moving people from error into truth.
- Confession proclaims Christ: Romans 10 reminds us that confession is also testimony—declaring Jesus as Lord.

✨ In short: Confession is the sacred response to testimony. It is more than words—it is restitution, forgiveness, conversion, and proclamation. By sharing your testimony, you invite others into the holy space where confession becomes possible, and where God’s mercy can heal and restore.
🌿 Why Share Your Testimony?
- It multiplies success: Your words may be the bridge someone needs to step toward Christ.
- It deepens knowledge: Testimony is not just teaching—it is witnessing, which carries spiritual authority.
- It invites confession and healing: When others hear your honesty, they are emboldened to open their own hearts before God.

📖 Suggested Study Path

- Knowledge → John 8:32 (Truth brings freedom)
- Confess → Romans 10:9–10 (Confession leads to salvation)
✨ In short: Your testimony is not just your story—it is God’s instrument. Like the sons of Mosiah, your words can become the altar where others find courage to confess, the light that brings knowledge, and the seed of eternal success.
