QUESTION AND VERSE OF THE DAY...

What Can the Holy Ghost Help Us Know What to Do?

2 Nephi 32:5
“For behold, again I say unto you that if ye will enter in by the way, and receive the Holy Ghost, it will show unto you all things what ye should do.”

This verse teaches that we can be shown what to do, how to act, and how to walk the covenant path when we receive and follow the Holy Ghost. The Spirit becomes our guide, our teacher, and our revealer of the next right step.

Heading Scriptures (the doctrinal frame)

3 Nephi 16:6
“And blessed are the Gentiles, because of their belief in me, in and of the Holy Ghost, which witnesses unto them of me and of the Father.”

The Lord remembers His covenant people and reveals His work among them.

Ether 4:11–12
πŸ—But he that believeth these things which I have spoken, him will I visit with the manifestations of my Spirit, and he shall know and bear record. For because of my Spirit he shall know that these things are true; for it persuadeth men to do good.
“And whatsoever thing persuadeth men to do good is of me; for good cometh of none save it be of me. I am the same that leadeth men to all good…”

The Spirit leads us to do good, walk uprightly, and come unto Christ.

Doctrine and Covenants 28:15
“And it shall be given thee from the time thou shalt go, until the time thou shalt return, what thou shalt do.”

The Spirit teaches us what is right and what we should do.

Moses 8:24
“Believe and repent of your sins and be baptized… and ye shall receive the Holy Ghost, that ye may have all things made manifest…”

The Lord calls us to repentance and obedience through revealed instruction.

Summary Principle

The Holy Ghost helps us know what to do by giving us gifts and revelation. Through wisdom, knowledge, prophecy, discernment, and divine instruction, the Spirit shows us:

  • what is true
  • what is right
  • what is next
  • what God wants for us
  • how to walk the covenant path

We are never left alone. The Spirit shows us all things we should do.

James 2:26

“For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”

This passage reinforces that the Spirit not only shows us what to do, but empowers us to act. Revelation invites righteous works, and righteous works deepen revelation. Faith becomes living when we follow the promptings the Holy Ghost gives us.

Closing Summary & Testimony

As we receive the Holy Ghost, we step into a life where God does not leave us guessing. The Spirit becomes the quiet, steady voice that shows us the next right step, the unseen danger, the needed correction, the lifted hope. Through gifts and revelation, the Lord makes His will known to us, line upon line, moment by moment.

I testify that as we enter in by the way—believing, repenting, covenanting, and receiving the Spirit—we are guided by a God who speaks, reveals, and shows. He shows us truth. He shows us Christ. He shows us what to do. And as we follow that showing, we become His people, led by His Spirit, walking His path with confidence and peace.
