Who Will the Gospel Be Preached To?
The gospel will be preached to every nation, every kindred, every tongue, every people — meaning no one is outside the reach of God’s saving invitation.
Mosiah 15:28 makes this universal scope unmistakable, and when we ask, “Who will the gospel be preached to?” the answer is: all of God’s children without exception.

Dissecting Mosiah 15:28 Through Our Shared Lens
“The salvation of the Lord shall be declared to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people.”
This verse answers our question directly: the gospel is preached to everyone because salvation is offered to everyone.
When we read this as disciples the verse becomes a calling:
- We are part of the Lord’s worldwide declaration.
- We belong to a covenant people whose mission is outward, not inward.
- Our responsibility is to help ensure that every soul has the chance to hear the message of Christ.
The cross‑reference word is salvation, and Psalm 67:2 (1–2) reinforces the same universal scope:
"God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah."
π€ "That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations."
This gives us our principle:
Missionary Work
God’s saving power is meant to spread.
Principle: Missionary Work
Psalm 67:2 gives us the directional principle:
God blesses us so that His saving truth can flow outward to all nations.
Missionary work is not merely a program — it is the covenant pattern of God’s dealings with His children.

Scriptures taken from the Topical Guide
Each of these captures the universality of God’s missionary reach — the same truth Mosiah 15:28 declares.
Old Testament — Isaiah 49:6
“I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles…”
God’s covenant people exist to shine outward.
New Testament — Matthew 28:19
“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…”
Christ commissions us to cross every boundary.
The Book of Mormon — Alma 29:8
“The Lord doth grant unto all nations… to teach his word.”
God is already working among all peoples — we join His work.
Doctrine and Covenants — D&C 90:11
“Every man shall hear the gospel in his own tongue…”
The Restoration ensures every child of God will hear in their own language.
Pearl of Great Price — Moses 8:19
“Go forth and declare my gospel…”
The call to preach is ancient — part of God’s pattern from the beginning.
Unified Principle
God’s salvation is universal, therefore our mission must be universal.
Mosiah 15:28 teaches us that the gospel will reach every soul — and Psalm 67 teaches us why:
We are blessed so that we can bless the world.
So when we ask, “Who will the gospel be preached to?” the answer is not only descriptive — it is prescriptive:
It will be preached to all people — and we are part of how God makes that happen.
