π️ Refrain of the Risen One
Out of the depths, He rose—
Not alone, but bearing all.
The pierced One, lifted in light,
Draws every soul from the shadowed fall.
Israel, groaning, waits in hope,
Bound in mercy’s ancient thread.
The contrite rise, the meek are crowned,
The broken heart is temple-fed.
No more the blood of beasts,
No more the veil of night—
The sacrifice is spirit-born,
The fire is clothed in morning light.
From spirit world to mortal clay,
From sealed tomb to radiant breath,
He redeems the dead, the living,
He breaks the bands of death.
All mankind is raised in Him,
The Alpha, Omega, Lamb once slain—
And in His presence, we return,
Restored, forgiven, born again.
π Helaman 14
π 17 But behold, the resurrection of Christ redeemeth mankind, yea, even all mankind, and bringeth them back into the presence of the Lord.
π Psalm 130
O Lord, hear our prayers, forgive iniquity, and redeem Israel.
A Song of degrees.
π 1 Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Lord.
π 2 Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.
π 3 If thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?
π 4 But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.
π 5 I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.
π 6 My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.
ππ7 Let Israel hope in the Lord: for with the Lord there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.
π 8 And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
π Romans 8
π 23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
π 3 Nephi 9
ππ17 And as many as have received me, to them have I given to become the sons of God; and even so will I to as many as shall believe on my name, for behold, by me redemption cometh, and in me is the law of Moses fulfilled.
π 18 I am the light and the life of the world. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.
ππ19 And ye shall offer up unto me no more the shedding of blood; yea, your sacrifices and your burnt offerings shall be done away, for I will accept none of your sacrifices and your burnt offerings.
π 20 And ye shall offer for a sacrifice unto me a broken heart and a contrite spirit. And whoso cometh unto me with a broken heart and a contrite spirit, him will I baptize with fire and with the Holy Ghost, even as the Lamanites, because of their faith in me at the time of their conversion, were baptized with fire and with the Holy Ghost, and they knew it not.
ππ21 Behold, I have come unto the world to bring redemption unto the world, to save the world from sin.
π 22 Therefore, whoso repenteth and cometh unto me as a little child, him will I receive, for of such is the kingdom of God. Behold, for such I have laid down my life, and have taken it up again; therefore repent, and come unto me ye ends of the earth, and be saved.
π 2 And reflecting upon the great atoning sacrifice that was made by the Son of God, for the redemption of the world;
π 16 They were assembled awaiting the advent of the Son of God into the spirit world, to declare their redemption from the bands of death.
π 48 Foreshadowing the great work to be done in the temples of the Lord in the dispensation of the fulness of times, for the redemption of the dead, and the sealing of the children to their parents, lest the whole earth be smitten with a curse and utterly wasted at his coming.
π 54 Including the building of the temples and the performance of ordinances therein for the redemption of the dead, were also in the spirit world.
- Christ Himself first: Helaman 14:17 declares that “the resurrection of Christ redeemeth mankind.” His rising is the fountainhead of all resurrection.
- All mankind: That same verse emphasizes “yea, even all mankind”—every soul will be brought back into the presence of the Lord. Resurrection is universal, not selective.
- Israel and the faithful: Psalm 130 speaks of Israel’s redemption from iniquity. This shows the covenantal dimension: resurrection is not only physical but tied to forgiveness and mercy.
- The body itself: Romans 8:23 describes believers waiting for “the redemption of our body.” Resurrection is not just spiritual adoption but the literal raising of mortal flesh into incorruption.
- Those who receive Christ: 3 Nephi 9:17–22 makes it clear—“as many as have received me… redemption cometh.” Resurrection is paired with becoming sons and daughters of God, through repentance and a contrite spirit.
- The dead in the spirit world: Doctrine and Covenants 138 expands the scope—Christ’s redemption reaches even those awaiting Him in the spirit world. Ordinances performed in temples extend resurrection’s promise to them.
- Universality: All will be resurrected—both righteous and wicked—because of Christ’s victory over death.
- Redemption and Resurrection intertwined: Forgiveness of sins (Psalm 130, 3 Nephi 9) and the raising of the body (Romans 8) are inseparable fruits of Christ’s atonement.
- Covenantal hope: Israel’s redemption (Psalm 130) and the sealing of families (D&C 138) show resurrection as more than individual—it is communal, covenantal, and eternal.
- Sacrifice transformed: No more burnt offerings (3 Nephi 9:19); instead, the offering is a broken heart and contrite spirit, which prepares the soul for resurrection.
Christ is resurrected first, and through Him all mankind—every soul, every body—is raised and redeemed, brought back into the presence of the Lord.
Closing Summary:
Christ’s resurrection is the fountainhead of universal redemption—He rises first, bearing all, and through Him every soul and body is raised, restored, and returned to the presence of the Lord. From Israel’s ancient groaning to the spirit world’s waiting hearts, the promise is covenantal and complete: forgiveness, adoption, and bodily renewal. The law of Moses is fulfilled, the veil is lifted, and the sacrifice is now a broken heart and contrite spirit. In Him, the morning light breaks forth, the dead are redeemed, the living are sanctified, and the eternal family is sealed in hope.
