Will the Saints of the Church have Power?

📒 1 Nephi 14
📜 14 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld the power of the Lamb of God, that it descended upon the saints of the church of the Lamb, and upon the covenant people of the Lord, who were scattered upon all the face of the earth; and they were armed with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory.

This is a radiant tapestry of scripture—woven with covenant, commission, and cosmic charge. Let’s pause and draw out the mythic structure embedded around 1 Nephi 14:14, where the saints are “armed with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory.” You’ve layered three symbolic armaments: 🛡️ “armed,” 🌟 “righteousness,” and 🔥 “power.” Each is a mantle of divine authority, and each unfolds across dispensations.

🛡️ Armed: Mission and Covenant Dispersion

The saints are not passive—they are sent. “Armed” evokes not violence, but divine commission:
- Genesis 12, Galatians 3, Abraham 2: The Abrahamic covenant arms the seed with priesthood and ministry to bless all nations.
- Isaiah 11, Obadiah 1, 1 Nephi 22: The gathering of Israel is a militant mercy—outcasts assembled, saviors rising on Mount Zion.
- Matthew 28, D&C 138: The Great Commission continues beyond death; elders preach even in the spirit world.
- Articles of Faith 10: Zion is not metaphor—it is geographic, prophetic, and paradisiacal.

This “arming” is not with swords, but with lineage, priesthood, and errand. The saints bear the ensign, the standard, the light.

📜 13 And now, the thing which our father meaneth concerning the grafting in of the natural branches through the fulness of the Gentiles, is, that in the latter days, when our seed shall have dwindled in unbelief, yea, for the space of many years, and many generations after the Messiah shall be manifested in body unto the children of men, then shall the fulness of the gospel of the Messiah come unto the Gentiles, and from the Gentiles unto the remnant of our seed—
📒 1 Nephi 22
📜 8 And after our seed is scattered the Lord God will proceed to do a marvelous work among the Gentiles, which shall be of great worth unto our seed; wherefore, it is likened unto their being nourished by the Gentiles and being carried in their arms and upon their shoulders.
📒 Ether 13
📜 6 And that a New Jerusalem should be built up upon this land, unto the remnant of the seed of Joseph, for which things there has been a type.

📜 8 He had reference to those whom God should call in the last days, who should hold the power of priesthood to bring again Zion, and the redemption of Israel; and to put on her strength is to put on the authority of the priesthood, which she, Zion, has a right to by lineage; also to return to that power which she had lost.
📘 Doctrine and Covenants 115
📜 5 Verily I say unto you all: Arise and shine forth, that thy light may be a standard for the nations;
📘 Doctrine and Covenants 133
📜 58 To prepare the weak for those things which are coming on the earth, and for the Lord’s errand in the day when the weak shall confound the wise, and the little one become a strong nation, and two shall put their tens of thousands to flight.
📘 Doctrine and Covenants 138
📜 30 But behold, from among the righteous, he organized his forces and appointed messengers, clothed with power and authority, and commissioned them to go forth and carry the light of the gospel to them that were in darkness, even to all the spirits of men; and thus was the gospel preached to the dead.
📜 57 I beheld that the faithful elders of this dispensation, when they depart from mortal life, continue their labors in the preaching of the gospel of repentance and redemption, through the sacrifice of the Only Begotten Son of God, among those who are in darkness and under the bondage of sin in the great world of the spirits of the dead.

📚 Abraham 2
📜 9 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee above measure, and make thy name great among all nations, and thou shalt be a blessing unto thy seed after thee, that in their hands they shall bear this ministry and Priesthood unto all nations;
📚 The Articles of Faith of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
📜 10 We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.

🌟 Righteousness: Deliverance and Divine Protection

Righteousness is both shield and signal:
- Obadiah 1, 1 Nephi 4, D&C 138: Deliverance is promised to the faithful—whether from Laban or from hell.
- Isaiah 52, Ephesians 6, D&C 27: The armor of God is literal protection—righteousness goes before, glory follows behind.
- 3 Nephi 4, D&C 45, 89: The New Jerusalem is a refuge, and the destroying angel passes by the righteous.

This righteousness is not mere morality—it is covenantal alignment, a readiness to be gathered, protected, and preserved.

📕 Matthew 18
📜 34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
📒 1 Nephi 4
📜 3 Now behold ye know that this is true; and ye also know that an angel hath spoken unto you; wherefore can ye doubt? Let us go up; the Lord is able to deliver us, even as our fathers, and to destroy Laban, even as the Egyptians.
📘 Doctrine and Covenants 138
📜 15 I beheld that they were filled with joy and gladness, and were rejoicing together because the day of their deliverance was at hand.
📜 23 And the saints rejoiced in their redemption, and bowed the knee and acknowledged the Son of God as their Redeemer and Deliverer from death and the chains of hell.
📚 Moses 5
📜 23 If thou doest well, thou shalt be accepted. And if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door, and Satan desireth to have thee; and except thou shalt hearken unto my commandments, I will deliver thee up, and it shall be unto thee according to his desire. And thou shalt rule over him;
•Divine Protection
📗 Isaiah 52
🗝📜 12 For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the Lord will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your rearward.
📜 8 ¶ Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy rearward.

📘 Doctrine and Covenants 27
15 Wherefore, lift up your hearts and rejoice, and gird up your loins, and take upon you my whole armor, that ye may be able to withstand the evil day, having done all, that ye may be able to stand.
📒 3 Nephi 4
📜 30 And they did rejoice and cry again with one voice, saying: May the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, protect this people in righteousness, so long as they shall call on the name of their God for protection.
📘 Doctrine and Covenants 45
📜 66 And it shall be called the New Jerusalem, a land of peace, a city of refuge, a place of safety for the saints of the Most High God;
📘 Doctrine and Covenants 63
📜 34 And the saints also shall hardly escape; nevertheless, I, the Lord, am with them, and will come down in heaven from the presence of my Father and consume the wicked with unquenchable fire.
📘 Doctrine and Covenants 89
📜 21 And I, the Lord, give unto them a promise, that the destroying angel shall pass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. Amen.
📘 Doctrine and Covenants 1
📜 36 And also the Lord shall have power over his saints, and shall reign in their midst, and shall come down in judgment upon Idumea, or the world.

🔥 Power: Endowment and Final Errand

Power descends from on high to enable the final harvest:
- Luke 24, D&C 38: The saints are endowed with power to govern, relieve, and gather.
- Jacob 6, 1 Nephi 13–14: The vineyard is pruned one last time; the servants go forth in power.
- D&C 133, 113: The weak confound the wise, Zion puts on her strength, and the priesthood redeems Israel.

power
📗 Luke 24
📜 49 ¶ And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

📒 1 Nephi 13
📜 37 And blessed are they who shall seek to bring forth my Zion at that day, for they shall have the gift and the power of the Holy Ghost; and if they endure unto the end they shall be lifted up at the last day, and shall be saved in the everlasting kingdom of the Lamb; and whoso shall publish peace, yea, tidings of great joy, how beautiful upon the mountains shall they be.

📒 1 Nephi 14
📜 1 And it shall come to pass, that if the Gentiles shall hearken unto the Lamb of God in that day that he shall manifest himself unto them in word, and also in power, in very deed, unto the taking away of their stumbling blocks—

📒 Jacob 6
🗝📜 2 And the day that he shall set his hand again the second time to recover his people, is the day, yea, even the last time, that the servants of the Lord shall go forth in his power, to nourish and prune his vineyard; and after that the end soon cometh.
📜 3 And how blessed are they who have labored diligently in his vineyard; and how cursed are they who shall be cast out into their own place! And the world shall be burned with fire.

📒 Doctrine and Covenants 38
📜 32 Wherefore, for this cause I gave unto you the commandment that ye should go to the Ohio; and there I will give unto you my law; and there you shall be endowed with power from on high;
📜 33 And from thence, whosoever I will shall go forth among all nations, and it shall be told them what they shall do; for I have a great work laid up in store, for Israel shall be saved, and I will lead them whithersoever I will, and no power shall stay my hand.
📜 34 And now, I give unto the church in these parts a commandment, that certain men among them shall be appointed, and they shall be appointed by the voice of the church;
📜 35 And they shall look to the poor and the needy, and administer to their relief that they shall not suffer; and send them forth to the place which I have commanded them;
📜 36 And this shall be their work, to govern the affairs of the property of this church.
📜 37 And they that have farms that cannot be sold, let them be left or rented as seemeth them good.
🗝📜 38 See that all things are preserved; and when men are endowed with power from on high and sent forth, all these things shall be gathered unto the bosom of the church.

This power is not abstract—it is the Holy Ghost, the priesthood, the authority to publish peace and gather the remnant.
