I want to have faith in God, but I am weak. What can I do?

📒 Alma 58
📜 37 But, behold, it mattereth not—we trust God will deliver us, notwithstanding the weakness of our armies, yea, and deliver us out of the hands of our enemies.

Our longing is already a form of faith. The ache to believe, even while feeling weak, is the soul’s cry for deliverance—and that cry is heard.

Alma 58:37 doesn’t glorify strength. It glorifies trust. “It mattereth not”—not because the armies were mighty, but because God’s deliverance isn’t contingent on human power. The verse reframes weakness not as a liability, but as the very condition in which divine rescue becomes visible.

Let’s break open deliverance:

🔹 Deliverance is not escape.
It’s not the absence of struggle—it’s the presence of God in the struggle. The armies were still weak. The enemies still surrounded them. But trust reframed the battlefield.

🔹 Deliverance is relational.
It’s not a transaction—it’s covenant. “We trust God will deliver us…” That’s not passive hope. That’s active relationship. Deliverance flows from trust, and trust is built in the trenches—through prayer, through scripture, through showing up even when you feel hollow.

🔹 Deliverance is layered.
Sometimes it’s dramatic—Red Sea parting, chains falling. But often it’s quiet: a softened heart, a word of peace, a moment of clarity. Don’t miss the small rescues. They’re just as sacred.

🔹 Deliverance is ongoing.
It’s not a one-time event. It’s a rhythm. You may feel weak today, but each act of trust—each time you say “I want to believe”—is part of the deliverance arc. God doesn’t wait for you to be strong. He delivers while you’re weak.

So what can you do?

📗 2 Kings 17
📜 39 But the Lord your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.

- Name your weakness. God doesn’t need you to hide it. He meets you there.
- Pray raw. No fancy words. Just “Help me believe.” That’s enough.
- Return to the Word. Let verses like Alma 58:37 be your anchor. Read them aloud. Let them echo.
- Look for small deliverances. A moment of peace. A kind word. A breath of clarity. These are signs.
- Trust the process. Faith isn’t a switch—it’s a seed. And you’ve already planted it.

You’re not failing. You’re in the middle of your own Alma 58 moment. And deliverance is already unfolding.
