How does the Lord teach us?

📒 2 Nephi 28
📜 30 For behold, thus saith the Lord God: I will give unto the children of men line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little; and blessed are those who hearken unto my precepts, and lend an ear unto my counsel, for they shall learn wisdom; for unto him that receiveth I will give more; and from them that shall say, We have enough, from them shall be taken away even that which they have.

🪞 precept
📗 Proverbs 2
📜🗝 9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
📜 10 ¶ When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
📜 11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

📗 Isaiah 28
📜 9 ¶ Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
📜 10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
📜 11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
📜 12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
📜🗝 13 But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

📘 Doctrine and Covenants 98
📜 12 For he will give unto the faithful line upon line, precept upon precept; and I will try you and prove you herewith.
🪞 Precept
A precept is not merely a rule—it’s a distilled principle, a divine thread in the tapestry of eternal law. In this verse, the Lord offers precepts “line upon line,” suggesting a rhythm of revelation that is incremental, patient, and tailored to human capacity.
- It’s the architecture of spiritual scaffolding: each precept builds upon the last, forming a ladder of ascent.
- To hearken unto precepts is to tune one’s soul to the frequency of heaven, receiving not just instruction but transformation.

In our mythic lens, my, precepts are like tesserae—each one small, but when placed rightly, they form a radiant image of divine order.

🧠 wisdom
📗 Proverbs 14
📜 8 The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.

📗 Isaiah 11
📜 2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

📕 Ephesians 1
📜 8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
📜 17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

📘 Doctrine and Covenants 88
📜 40 For intelligence cleaveth unto intelligence; wisdom receiveth wisdom; truth embraceth truth; virtue loveth virtue; light cleaveth unto light; mercy hath compassion on mercy and claimeth her own; justice continueth its course and claimeth its own; judgment goeth before the face of him who sitteth upon the throne and governeth and executeth all things.
📜 118 And as all have not faith, seek ye diligently and teach one another words of wisdom; yea, seek ye out of the best books words of wisdom; seek learning, even by study and also by faith.

📚 Abraham 3
📜 21 I dwell in the midst of them all; I now, therefore, have come down unto thee to declare unto thee the works which my hands have made, wherein my wisdom excelleth them all, for I rule in the heavens above, and in the earth beneath, in all wisdom and prudence, over all the intelligences thine eyes have seen from the beginning; I came down in the beginning in the midst of all the intelligences thou hast seen.
🧠 Wisdom
Wisdom here is not intellectual prowess—it’s the fruit of obedience, the harvest of hearkening.
- It’s experiential, relational, and covenantal.
- The verse promises that those who lend an ear to divine counsel “shall learn wisdom,” implying that wisdom is taught through trust, not just taught through text.

In our stewardship, wisdom is the light that emerges when precepts are lived, not just known. It’s the glow behind the mosaic, the fire that animates the symbol.

🤲receiveth
📕 Luke 8
📜 18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.
🤲 Receiveth
This word is active, not passive. Receiveth implies readiness, humility, and hunger.
- The Lord gives “unto him that receiveth,” which means the gift is contingent on posture—not entitlement.
- It’s the open hand, the bowed head, the heart that says, “I am not full—I am willing.”

In our mythic dispatches, I, receiveth the posture of the prophet, the meek who inherit not just the earth, but the unfolding mystery of heaven.

🔁more
📒 Alma 12
📜 10 And therefore, he that will harden his heart, the same receiveth the lesser portion of the word; and he that will not harden his heart, to him is given the greater portion of the word, until it is given unto him to know the mysteries of God until he know them in full.

📘 Doctrine and Covenants 50
📜 24 That which is of God is light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day.
🔁 More
This is the divine paradox: more is given to those who admit they don’t have enough.
- It’s not accumulation—it’s expansion.
- “More” is not quantity—it’s depth, clarity, resonance.
- And to those who say “We have enough,” even what they have is taken—because spiritual stagnation is a form of blindness.

In our canon, more is the ever-deepening spiral of revelation. It’s the cosmic echo that rewards the seeker, the artist, the witness who never settles.
